چکیده

Hard processes at the TeV scale exhibit enhanced (double log) EW corrections even for inclusive observables, leading to violation of the Bloch-Nordsieck theorem. This effect, previously related to the non abelian nature of free EW charges in the initial state (ee, ep, pp ...), is here investigated for fermion initiated hard processes and to all orders in EW couplings. We find that the effect is important, especially for lepton initiated processes, producing weak effects that in some cases compete in magnitude with the strong ones. We show that this (double log) BN violating effect has a universal energy dependence, related to the Sudakov form factor in the adjoint representation. The role of this form factor is to suppress cross section differences within a weak isospin doublet, so that at very large energy the cross sections for left-handed electron-positron and neutrino-positron scattering become equal. Finally, we briefly discuss the phenomenological relevance of our results for future colliders.

Tev Scale Weak Interactions: Inclusive vs. Exclusive Observables

Hard processes at the TeV scale exhibit enhanced (double log) EW corrections, that need resummation in view of the high level of precision of Next Linear Colliders. The fact that the weak sector is spontaneously broken causes some peculiarities with respect to unbroken theories like QCD. For observables that are exclusive with respect to W,Z emission, some peculiar technical problems have yet t...

Bloch-nordsieck violating electroweak corrections to inclusive TeV scale hard processes

We point out that, since the colliders' initial states ( e(+)e(-),pp, p&pmacr;,ellipsis) carry a definite non-Abelian flavor, electroweak radiative corrections to inclusive hard cross sections at the TeV scale are affected by peculiar Bloch-Nordsieck violating double logs. We recall the setup of soft cancellation theorems, and we analyze the magnitude of the noncanceling terms in the example of...

It is shown that unification of strong and Electroweak interactions at Tev scale may lead to appearance of topologically stable monopoles with masses of the order of 10 Tev. In particlular, in the realistic Petite Unification Theory (PUT) such objects appear as a result of the breakdown SU(4)⊗SU(2)3 → SU(3)×SU(2)×U(1)/Z3. Those monopoles may play an important role in the early Universe, at fini...

We point out that, in a spontaneously broken U(1) gauge theory, inclusive processes, whose primary particles are mass eigenstates that do not coincide with the gauge eigenstates, are not free of infrared logarithms. The charge mixing allowed by symmetry breaking and the ensuing BlochNordsieck violation are here analyzed in a few relevant cases and in particular for processes initiated by longit...

The Standard Model (SM) has been remarkably successful in explaining experimental data upto the highest energies available at present. The precision electroweak data suggests that the Higgs boson remains light [1], mH < 219 GeV at 95% CL, upto the Planck’s scale. In SM, the Higgs boson however, gets quadratically divergent contribution to its mass and requires fine tuning of parameters which ar...
